Just killed my abs so please don’t look at my messy hair – it’s the hair of a killer Currently I’m combining a few nutrition approaches and it works very well without feeling “dieting”. The newest approach is kcal-cycling. So my nutrition is now a combination of intermittent fasting (16/8) keto (noon till evening) slight carb-backloading (after training) and that’s new: calorie-cycling with a 2-day refeed on weekends. What you wanna do first: calculate your WEEKLY kcal needs incl. weekly workout etc. I would need to eat about 16700kcal/week to keep my weight. Now decide how much you wanna go down to loose fat. My decision was to save 2700kcal weekly. On weekdays I eat less than 1700 kcal. Then leg day approaches mostly on Friday so the day before I’m up to 2000kcal then Friday 2600 and Saturday 2600kcal. Then coat them a 2nd time (after adding a couple TBL of corn starch) & let sit for another 20 min. Day 2 of my own prep…. Im officially mentally prepared to diet again and KILLED my first day! Im mainly doing this through IG to keep myself accountable if I disappear after making it public that I am starting my own prep then I KNOW that YOU all know I have been bad and non compliant to my diet. -Im 16 weeks away from my wedding. 3 weeks away from my bachelorette party and probably 6 weeks away from my first dress fitting. This is my starting point. To be honest I actually feel better about my body than the scale indicates 144# would have made me super depressed before but #bodyrecomposition ! Im a much more muscular 144 than I was last July! For my prep Im cutting down my carbs a lot not sure I plan to go true keto but carbs hate me and dont do my body much justice. Lol. I expect to see quick improvements just by cutting back carbs. Im WAYYY up from my stage weight which Im okay with. I know theres no way in hell this is all fat gain. Follow-up post number 2 to Sunday’s post 4 days ago. This is a complete chart showing my progression during the cut. Sorry about how small it is (fitting 70 days worth of data points is a lot!) but it should still be legible. The individual points don’t matter as much though as it’s the general trend that does which is the main point of the post: fat loss is most definitely NOT a linear process. You can see how it’s quick in the beginning (attributable mostly to the water weight loss as I entered keto) but slows down at the end. In particular the last week and a half was very volatile on a day to day basis but the downward trend continued. I could have easily increased the deficit but didn’t want to or feel like it given I was ending at the 10 week mark. Not to mention you will have times where you have an extended plateau for no apparent reason even though you are still in a caloric deficit and making changes then will not be helpful. I really didn’t know how to respond.. I needed a little time to reflect and step away from online stuff for a while. I’ve been REALLY struggling. Ever since January of this year I have been STRUGGLING. Struggling with binging and fighting with food. I kept failing everytime I got back up too. And this week honestly – I JUST WANTED TO GIVE UP. Last Sunday after Hua Hin I pulled out of the #triathlon after the #bike leg after no-power-leg-syndrome!!. Dat dang #red #swag tho brah! This week I’m focusing on an adjusted #Keto #diet to increase my explosive #power . After 6 months experimenting with 75/20/5 fat/protein/carb macro %’s I can conclude that the #ketogenic way is #awesome for #weightloss and longer #Endurance with neurological #benefits (clarity). For #olympic and distance or less it doesn’t quite cut it on race day. For 70.3 this is also the case although less explosive power is required. I’ve adjusted my #calorie intake to add the rocket fuel to stoke the fire at 10/25/65 fat/protein/carb hopefully my #body will adjust in time for the race and start using #carbs as primary fuel source once again. The full keto lineup maybe back in the future but for now #race season crank up the heat and light the dynamite! I’ve done it in the past, with much success. Obviously I didn’t follow that strictly while pregnant, I know some women do, but that wasn’t for me. I started Keto about 6 weeks after having my daughter. It seemed like the weight just coming off much slower than it had in the past. I blamed it on age. Once I started tracking and hitting the gym again, that’s when I really started to notice a difference. Heey #Fitfam ! Hope everyone had a wonderful #valentines day filled with love and food! Mine was filled with food! Hah My Dad spiced up some pumpkin seeds and baked them! so good! And Keto friendly! It makes a good midnight snack instead of grabbing chips or popcorn. Tomorrow marks the first day I get back into the gym and make a “strict” diet plan. I’m doing flexible dieting but I really want my carbs to come from good carb sources mostly veggies and fruits. I’m thinking of giving up meat sources for lent and trying out being #vegatarian buuuuuut I don’t know if I’m ready to give up Chicken and Fish.
